Our sneak preview of Behind The Kitchen Door at the Ford Foundation was a huge success!

Thank you to the Ford Foundation for hosting and everyone who attended and participated in this event. All of our panelists offered engaging ideas and observations on how we can collectively bring national attention to working conditions in the restaurant industry.

“When I got to New York, I noticed how restaurants post letter grades from the Health Department. What if they also had to post letter grades indicating the quality of the conditions for their workers?”

– Andy Shallal, High-Road Employer, Owner of Busboys and Poets

“What prevents eaters, who care about animals with brown eyes, from caring about people with brown eyes?”

- Raj Patel, Author of Stuffed and Starved

“We don’t just hold forks when we eat out, we hold incredible POWER!”

- Saru Jayaraman

“Locally grown, grass-fed and serenaded beef is meaningless if the people who prepare it are abused.”

- Baratunde Thurston
